Virtual Tour: raised saloonViews all around to make the most of the magnificent views MORE VIRTUAL TOURS: DECK || RAISED SALOON || OTHER FEATURES || CABINS
The watertight door from inside. The secret to this design is having a very wide step below it, to make coming through comfortable. (Tested by age 3 to 90!) Galley is on the left in the photo, table on the right (there seems to be a doll's house on the table...)
2:00 am in late summer Illorsuit, Greenland -- the raised saloon really comes into its own in the long twilights of high latitudes. Instead of huddling down below around a heater, we sit up and look out through the double glazing.
Sailing in a gale just south of Iceland (Greenland-Scotland passage). Seal is secured for offshore sailing - the dorades have been completely removed (no lingering boxes to leak) and the 1/2" Lexan storm covers are fitted on all the windows.
Raised saloon starboard side: we have kept all the passageways less than 24" for security at sea, but keep the view open above waist height.
Teatime!
